The Salt Lake County Division of Substance Abuse is one of nine major divisions within the Salt Lake County Department of Human Services.
The Division administers services under the direction of the Local Authority (County Council) in Salt Lake County and is the largest program in Utah for alcohol and drug abuse prevention and treatment.
The Division oversees Treatment and Prevention services.
The Division does not treat clients, but the Assessment and Referral Unit does assess and refer clients to subcontracted Treatment Providers in the community.
The Division also subcontracts with school districts and other Prevention Providers to deliver Universal, Selective and Indicated Prevention Programs.
The Salt Lake County Division of Substance Abuse administrative office:
- provides needs assessment, planning and program development
- conducts an open Request for Proposal (RFP) process for services
- facilitates networking among providers
- coordinates advocacy between providers and clients
- conducts audits and evaluations
- pursues, manages and tracks funding
