7th Annual Recovery Day
Utah's 7th Annual Recovery Day was a tremendous success once again this year. Approximately 1000 people participated in this years' activities, games and booths. The day was once again held at the Gallivan Center in downtown Salt Lake City on September 20th.
There were 62 provider tables, comprised of public, private, for-profit and non-profit organizations all sharing the message of recovery in our community. There were also 130 volunteers that donated over 450 hours of community service. Additionally, 96 individuals were able to register to vote while at the event.
The day began with the annual Run for Recovery. This years' race featured an out-and-back course that took runners from the plaza at the Gallivan Center up to Memory Grove and back. Over 100 runners participated in the Run for Recovery representing all ages and skill levels.
Those in attendance were treated to live music and entertainment, free food and treats, giveaways and much more. There was a true spirit of camaraderie that permeated through the day among those who were in attendance. The message of the possibility of recovery from substance abuse was in full focus.
